New screening for renters, meth testing

What are some of the signs that meth has been used in or around a property?
  • Yellow discoloration on walls, showers, sinks and drains.
  • Blue discoloration on valves of propane tanks and fire extinguishers.
  • Smoke or fire detectors are removed or have been taped over.
  • Symptoms while inside the house:, burning eyes or throat, itching, a metallic taste in your mouth and breathing problems.
  • Unusual strong odors that smell like materials from a garage.
  • The use of security cameras and surveillance equipment

Property owners and Landlords wouldn’t you want to know if the property you’re buying has been used as a drug house?  Recently on one four-plex I performed a meth test and it came back positive on 3 out of the 4 units.  Are you as the landlord or property owner ready to handle the liability and lawsuits which can occur by having renters live in such unsafe conditions? Ignorance is not a good defense.  When buying a property or when renters vacate a property it would be a wise move to do a simple meth drug test to see if it is still a safe home or apartment.

Detection Period – can be detected in urine up to 3-5 days after use

Detection Level – 1,000 ng/mL (d-Methamphetamine as the Calibrator*)

An increasingly common drug, Methamphetamine is an addictive stimulant, related to amphetamine but stronger. The 2005 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) estimated that 10.4 million people age 12 or older (4.3 percent of the population) have tried methamphetamine at some time in their lives (read more about this study here). Methamphetamine is longer lasting than amphetamine, and has stronger effects on the central nervous system.

This meth test is very easy to do. You must collect a urine sample from any time of the day in a clean and dry container. Immerse your meth test into the urine and wait for 5 minutes. A positive result is shown when no line appears in the Test Region of the card and means the drug concentration in the urine sample is greater than the designated cut-off/detection level for methamphetamine.

*The Methamphetamine urine drug test uses d-Methamphetamine as the calibrator for the stated 1,000 ng/mL testing level. The following table lists the concentrations of compounds (ng/mL) that are detected as positive in this urine drug test
